Contraception and C-card
There are a variety of methods of contraception that you can use to prevent pregnancy. However, used correctly during sex condoms are the only method of contraception which will help to prevent pregnancy and protect you against Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
C - Card
The C-Card is a card which offers free and easy access to condoms and lube in a range of venues, including some clinics, schools, colleges and pharmacies. In Leicestershire and Rutland, the C-Card is available to those aged 13+. If you are able to access a Teen Health officer in your school, they will provide condoms via the C-Card.
It’s important to consider which form of contraception is right for you and your partner. If you have any questions or want to know more there is plenty of online information or you can visit your local sexual health clinic or speak to your GP.
If you have unprotected sex and you don’t want to get pregnant, you can take the Emergency Hormonal Contraceptive (EHC) pill. It’s commonly known as the ‘Morning after Pill’ up to 72 hours after having unprotected sex from a pharmacy or sexual health clinic.
