Contraception and Condoms
There are a variety of methods of contraception that you can use to prevent pregnancy. However, used correctly during sex condoms are the only method of contraception which will help to prevent pregnancy and protect you against Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
Condoms
In Leicestershire and Rutland you can collect condoms and lube in a range of venues, including the Sexual Health clinics, schools, colleges and pharmacies.
If you are able to access a Teen Health officer in your school, they will provide condoms. If you are over 16 you can also order online at the Leicestershire and Rutland Sexual Health Hub for delivery via Royal Mail.
If you currently have a C-Card you can continue to use this in Leicester City venues but you may not be required to show it in venues in the county and Rutland
It’s important to consider which form of contraception is right for you and your partner. If you have any questions or want to know more there is plenty of online information or you can visit your local sexual health clinic or speak to your GP.
If you have unprotected sex and you don’t want to get pregnant, you can take the Emergency Hormonal Contraceptive (EHC) pill. It’s commonly known as the ‘Morning after Pill’ up to 72 hours after having unprotected sex from a pharmacy or sexual health clinic.
