University Mental Health Day Thursday 13th March 2025

This year, University Mental Health Day is taking place on Thursday 13th March. It will be the 17th #UniMentalHealth Day!

University Mental Health Day was created in 2008 by UMHAN to raise the visibility of mental health on university campuses, and so help to break down stigma. UMHAN is a charity made up of mental health practitioners working in education, mainly in Higher Education. Since 2012, with the charity, Student Minds, they have celebrated University Mental Health Day together every March because it is still important to let students know that it's okay to talk about their mental health and to seek help and support if they need it.

Over the years they have had lots of different themes for the day but essentially they encourage university staff and students to get involved in sharing information about mental health, to take part in wellbeing activities and to promote the support that is available to students during their time at university.

This year UMHAN are holding a free online webinar about 'Climbing for Wellbeing' and how physical activity can be incorporated into mental health support. Student Minds are running a '10 minutes for you challenge'. Universities across the UK will be joining the day and social media comes alive with all the activities and stories about student mental health.

They love to hear about all the mental health fairs, wellbeing stalls, mindfulness workshops, wellbeing reading lists, art therapy activities, wellbeing spaces and pets on campus and more. Look for the hashtag #UniMentalHealthDay across social media.
