Bullying

Bullying is when someone is targeted by a person or a group. It’s done on purpose to make a person feel intimidated, threatened or powerless and is often ongoing. Bullying can be physical, verbal and commonly, online.

Bullying is an incredibly difficult thing to go through and it can have a huge effect on a child’s mental health and wellbeing. It can also be a very challenging and worrying time as a parent/carer. At difficult times it is important to remember that your young person will get through it and feel okay again and there are some practical steps you can take to address the issues.

If your child is being bullied by someone at their school, you should talk to the school. All schools have a responsibility to protect their pupils from bullying, even if the bullying is happening online.  Each school should have a bullying policy which may be on their website. If not, you could ask to see a copy.
